HOW DO I KNOW MY RING OR BANGLE SIZE?
-
Check my Measuring page for a simple sizing technique to use at home. Or if you're passing a high street jeweller, pop in and ask them to measure it for you.
-
When you are making a purchase, please double-check the sizing listed for the item you are ordering - this is particularly important if it is a pre-made piece that has a fixed size.
-
-
HOW DO I KNOW IT'S REALLY STERLING SILVER?
-
Look for my hallmark. Sometimes it's really small! The hallmark is your guarantee of the purity and quality of the metal I've used.
-
Read through my Hallmarking page for more details of what each mark means and how it guarantees the quality of the metal.
-
-
Please don't take a '925' mark on its own as a guarantee that a piece is sterling silver - stamps to use at home can easily be bought on the internet and there is absolutely nothing to confirm that sterling silver has been used. For that reason, I never use a '925' mark on any of my jewellery. Your only guarantee of sterling silver in the UK is a genuine hallmark from one of the Assay Offices (see my Hallmarking page for details).

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET MY JEWELLERY TO ME?
-
If your item is in stock, I'll send it to you within 48hrs. If it is not in stock, please contact me as I might be able to make something similar for you. Made-to-order pieces take between 4-6 weeks, depending on the details involved and turnaround times for hallmarking.
-
-
HOW DO YOU PACKAGE MY NEW JEWELLERY?
-
All jewellery is carefully wrapped in 100% recycled and recyclable packaging. These can be used to store your jewellery in the short-term or easily recycled with cardboard. I then wrap the box in paper bubble wrap and place it into a padded envelope, so there is very little risk of damage in transit.
-
-
WHAT POSTAL SERVICES DO YOU USE?
-
I will always post your jewellery to you using a tracked, signed for and insured service and will endeavour to get it to you at the earliest possible opportunity.
-
Please note that with items made specifically to order, the delivery time is much longer simply because the pieces need to be created from scratch and then hallmarked (which can take up to 4 weeks at peak times), before I can dispatch.

-
CAN MY JEWELLERY BE ADJUSTED OR RESIZED?
-
I am happy to adjust ring and bangle sizes if the design allows for resizing. I will do this free of charge once (excluding postage from you to me), if you contact me and return the item within 14 days of purchase.
-
Any subsequent sizing alterations will still be free (exluding postage from you to me), but I will charge for Royal Mail Special Delivery postage back to you, i.e. all postage costs are your responsibility. Please note that re-sizing only applies to jewellery originally purchased from The Soldersmith.
-
Any item that has a stone set into it cannot be resized or altered. However, I will attempt to source a similar stone for you to recreate a similar design.
-
Please note that earrings and pendants cannot be altered, although in some circumstances, I am happy to adjust the necklace length for you. Please let me know within 7 days if you need a chain length altered.
